Why can't I insert a scanned image into my existing document?

I scanned five images and saved them as jpeg images to my computer. I went
into an existing document and tried to insert those images one at a time
using Insert File and Insert Picture and both times all I saw was the outline
of the bottom of the image. Anyone know why?

In the paragraph where you were inserting the picture, was the line spacing
sent to an Exact amount? If so, change it to Single to see the whole
picture.
