Hi,
Thanks to all of you for attempting to solve this problem. I found out what
was causing it.
It has become increasingly necessary to be careful about adware, spyware,
etc., so I require being prompted for any cookies that might be installed on
my system. Of course this results many times in a web site not being able
to download, and, in this case, I wasn't able to download the practice
session. This was a Microsoft Practice Session and is available as a
download for any of their office products.
For those who might wonder where I found this material I might add that it
is ridiculous to require the user to lower their security settings in order
to download. This invites problems if the user forgets to return their
settings to the previous state. I would also like to add that you might not
want to waste your time using these training tools. I wanted to find a way
to alter the boundaries of some of the Publisher label downloads, and wasted
a lot of time with a rather juvenile level of training material that never
addressed that issue. All of the information in the training I had already
discovered on my own because of the intuitive nature of the software.
Specifically I wanted to make CD jewel case insert labels for 4 CD jewel
cases that require the same label on both sides. The examples provided are
for single CD jewel case covers, where one side has lapped ends to identify
the CD when it is in a storage rack, and the other insert is without the
lapped ends. I tried to find a way to remove the unlapped side and copy the
lapped side to where the unlapped side was located, but couldn't find any way
to do it. Certainly the "training" sessions provided no insight for this.
At this point it would seem that Publisher is incapable of allowing redesign
of canned (prepackaged) boundaries for any of the downloadable examples,
though the propaganda seems to indicate otherwise.
I know much of the above is a little off topic, but I thought you might
like to know my reasons for using the "practice sessions", without creating a
post with a separate subject heading.
