Why can't I open .docx or .doc files in Groove 2007?

When I add .docx or .doc files in Groove I can't open them? Instead I get a
message box with 'This file does not have a program associated with it for
performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control
panel.'.

PS why no Groove messageboard all the other packages seem to have one?
