Why can't I send email from any of my office programs

Every time I try to send my work using the send feature within the program it
comes up with an errror message about my pop3 connection. My internet
connection is fine.

You will need to (re)configure your default mail program's account settings.
It has much less to do with the connection than it does with the account
settings.
