My e-mail account is through Gmail and I am not sure how many are familiar
with Gmail but there is a certain process you must go through to get your
account set-up with Outlook. Back in November I completed the process and
from November 2, 2004 to May 24, 2005 I was sending and receiving e-mail to
and from my Gmail account with no problems. The evening of May 24, 2005 I
started getting the following error message:
Task 'Melissa - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC78): 'Unable to send the
message. Please verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The
server responded: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first 39sm56848nzk'
I have communicated with Gmail since June 1, 2005 and they are unable to
resolve the problem stating they are certain this is an Outlook problem and
not a Gmail problem as they have no other complaints. I am the only user of
the computer and I have done nothing differently nor have I changed anything
prior to this problem. I have since changed my SMTP ports as requested by
Gmail to see if that would correct the problem, it did not so I was
instructed to set the SMTP port back to its original setting.
I have verified my account information and my account properties and
everything is correct, I have no idea what Outlook needs or whats me to
change or correct.
This problem is annoying and it prohibits me from sending e-mails. Any
suggestions?
Thanks,
Melissa
