Why Date Failure on New PCs?

We have received new PCs in the office, and suddenly every form & report
field using Date() yields #Name?. Even when I write no code at all and
tell Access to Insert/Date, I get the same result. I am totally mystified
and would appreciate help.

The OS is Win 2000 Professional. Office 2000 came with it. I have
installed SR-1 and SP-3. The machines are Dells, model unknown (to me.)
