I have just installed Word 2007 on a Vista Ultimate x64 computer. When I am
looking at files on an external storage drive, I can right-click a Word
(2003) doc file and open it in Word 2007, but the file is marked Read-Only
and if I change it I have to save it with another name. I don;t necessarily
want to save it under a new name.
I want my documents to open NOT as Read-Only... is this possible? I can have
Word opened already and browse files in Word itself and open them normally,
but that's not always how I work... why have a right-click/open ability if we
are limited to read-only status for such files.
This is extremely frustrating... any solutions here?
