Why do critical Office updates not show up in Microsoft update

i Thought MIcrosoft Update was supposed to show both Windows and office
updates. So why were there three critical updates when I ran Office update?

Indeed, and similarly, when Microsoft Update only shows the usual demand to
update Office, but then when you happen to visit Windows Update, you find
updates for OE and IE!

Some fixing would appear to be in order...

MU and WU will only show the Updates for that particular month. If you want to check for your Office Updates that you might be missing you should check from the below link

Hi;

Keep in mind that MU only offers updates for Office XP or later. It could
also be that your Office install wasn't one of those covered (see
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=907380 as one example).
