Why do documents skip lines when I try to paragraph?

A problem has recently started when I create a new Word document. The
document skips many lines (in fact. most of the page) whenever I try to
paragraph. I think it started when I mishit a key.

How can I correct it so I can paragraph normally ?

On the File menu, click Page Setup. Click the Layout tab. Make sure
that "Vertical alignment" is set to "Top." Click the Default button.

You may also want to check your "paragraph" settings under "format." Word
may have spontaneously added space before and after your para.
