why do emails sent to get rejected because of "originalmail.eml?"

People try to contact me, either sending a fresh email or responding, and
they get the reply saying:

This message has been rejected because it has

a potentially executable attachment originalmail.eml

This form of attachment has been used by

recent viruses or other malware.

If you meant to send this file then please

package it up as a zip file and resend it.



But there are no attachments at all.
Does anyone knw what this is and how to stop it?

Why would the sender of the e-mail need an NDR (non-deliverable
report) e-mail with the file attached? Obviously the sender already
has the file they sent you so they don't need another copy of it back.

Since no headers were provided along with knowing the e-mail provider
for the sender, we haven't a clue whether it is their e-mail server
sending back this NDR or if it is your mail server sending them an
NDR. Could be their mail service. Could be yours. Could be that it
isn't an e-mail at all but a message they get from their anti-virus,
anti-spam, or other e-mail interrogating product they use.
