Why do formulas appear and not the result?

Even though I have unchecked the option to show formulas instead of their
result, I still get the formula appearing when I insert a new formula, all
the old ones show the result, it's just when I add a new one.

Any ideas? Thanks

Check the format of the cell. Right click>Format cell...Change that to
general...from text

The cell is probably formatted as Text. Change the format to General or
some other appropriate format by clicking on Format > Cells > Number. Then
press F2 and Enter (or ctrl-shift-Enter for array formulas). The latter
step is needed to coerce Excel into reprocessing the formula as if you had
edited it.

After changing to General you must re-enter each formula.

F2 then ENTER

If you have a great many of these use edit>replace

What: =

With: =

Replace all.
