Why do formulas change to pictures and/or change from Mac to XP

Hi,

I have created a document that contains a lot of formulas in a
Word document on my mac computer. Then, open the file
in Word and some of my formulas have become pictures, while
others have been changed (For example, the vector arrow over a
variable gets changed to an "r". For some of the formulas, if I
click on them to open the equation editor, they will change to the
desired value).

There seems to be strange things that happens when I save my
Word file in Mac and open it in Windows.

I am saving the file to Word 97-2004 Format. My Mac Word
version is the 2008 Student/Teacher version. My Windows Word
version is 2003 Student/Teacher version.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

You haven't specified the update level of Word: that's the first place to
start. Ensure it has all the current updates.

The other thing to avoid is changing file format: if you save back to the
old format, you are likely to suffer this problem a lot more frequently.

However, it's a well-known "bug" and you may not be able to entirely
eliminate it.

Check the Design Science website: the Equation Editor you are using is a
cut-down of their MathType product, and all the help on their site applies.

Cheers
