Why do hidden columns/rows unhide automatically?

WHY

I have hidden columns/ rows in a worksheet. I want to input a formala (any
formula) in a cell. As I do so, all columns/ rows automatically unhide. How
do I stop columns/ rows from unhiding automatically?

Try
Tools|Options|Transition Tab
Uncheck Transition Navigation Keys
(xl2003 menu system)

I'd uncheck all those transition settings if I were you.
