Why do I get an error message when selecting Word document

When I select a Word to open using the Windows Explorer I get an error
message that states "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is
open. Click, ok and then close open dialog boxes to continue." However,
there are no open dialog boxes. If I click OK then the document usually
finishes loading. I have Microsoft Office 2003 loaded on three different
machines and the same thing happens on all of them.

Are you certain that there are no dialogs open? Are you using Norton Anti
Virus?

Yes, I do use Notron Anit-virus but I do not notice any indication of
scanning the document when I am trying to open it. I suppose it could be
running in the background though.

Open NAV and under Preferences, disable the Office Plug-in.
