Why do I get the message 503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA

Some times Outlook sends my messages. Other times I get the following error
message "! Task ‘TexasOwl – Sending’ reported error (0x800CCC65) : ‘Your
outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported and internal error. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provided (ISP). The server responded: 503 valid RCPT
command must precede DATA’. TexasOwl is the account name for the e-mail set
up. Some times it will send the message after rejecting it many times. Some
times it never sends the message

What is your Outlook version? Are you scanning either incoming or outgoing
messages with an AV scanner? If so, uninstall it temporarily to see if that
changes things.

I am using Outlook 2003 out of the Office 2003 package. I do not have an AV
scanner (what ever that is)

An AV scanner is the antivirus software you should be running on your PC. You
shouldn't be connected to the internet without it. Some antivirus
applications are called McAfee, Trend, PC-Cillin, AVG, Norton, etc. Do you
have anything like that?

Yes I have mcafee. I will try turning it off
