why do I have a white border on my layout only on print view?

The size of the background does not match the size of the document, that can
be seen only when I apply a page color. I end up with a white border around
my page that only appears in the print view. When printing it cuts off part
of my page, anyway to correct this?

All printers have some irreducible unprintable area. Even photo printers
that claim to print to the edge often cannot do so on letter-sized paper,
but if your printer claims to be able to, you may need to make a change in
the printer Properties to set it for "photo" printing.
