Why do I keep getting error 0x800CCC0F?

Old Dog

I am using MS Outlook (not outlook express). Although I can send and recieve
email I keep getting an error message pop up (0x800CCC0F) connection to
server was interrupted.
When I click on send and recieve I get 4 lines in the following order.
Sending - completed
Recieving - failed
Sending - Completed
Recieving - Completed
Why am I getting this error and how do I deal with this error message?

Common reasons for this are:

- Problem with antispam/antivirus software that integrates with your mail
client, placing itself between you and your mail server to scan all
incoming/outgoing mail--if it isn't working, you can't send, receive (or in
some cases both).
- Problem with your ISP's incoming mail server (or your mailbox).
- Problem with a message in your mailbox that is corrupted (happens more
often when using antispam/antivirus software).

The first thing to try is disabling the antivirus/antispam software (if
applicable) and doing a send/receive again. If that doesn't work, try
logging into your ISP's web-based mail (if available). If there is only one
or two messages in there, move them to a subfolder and send yourself a test
email. If you receive it, then one (or more) of the messages that was in
your Inbox may have an issue (or you may have an application running that is
having an issue with one or more of those messages). Move them back into
the Inbox one at a time, doing a send/receive after each one until you find
the culprit.

If all else fails, contact your ISP and see if they're having any issues.
If you can access your mailbox via the web then it isn't likely they would
be, but it is possible and worth asking about.
