Why do my 2007 programs shut down on exit

When I hit the send button in my "NEW" 2007 outlook, It goes to the spell
checker and as soon as it is complete I get an error window telling me that
Outlook has shut down and MS is looking for a solution. It does not send my
email either. This also happens when I close any Office program using the
upper right corner X. Can anyone tell me how to fix this. I am running Avista
on my laptop and just installed the " NEW/BETTER" office 2007
