Why do my durations change when I copy one .mpp file into another?

When I copy a MS project plan into another, all durations change. 1 day
durations become .89 durations. 5 day durations become 4.44 day durations and
so on.
Why is this?

The setting "hours per day" onb the Tools Options Calendar page is specific
to each project. All durations are actually stored in hours. When you copy
one file into another, the hours per day settings that convert "hours" to
"days" are different between the two. It sounds like your source file might
be 7.5 hours but your destination file might be 8 hours.

Many thanks. My hours per day were off.
