why do my tasks change sort order in project 2007?

Donald

My tasks are independently moving within their summary task. i.e. they are
not in order by start date. I sort the group by start date, but I re-open
the file and they are back like they were. Some in order by start and some
not.

in MSP when you sort them it sorts them by your selection but will go
back to ID order when you next open project you should select the sort
by.. then select the fields you wish to sort by then set the check box
to permanently reorder them to keep order if you wish.

Attention, there is a minor bug in Project 2007, Permanently renumber
doesn't work (it is lost at closing/saving/opening)

Hi Donald,

Microsoft have not given us any dates for a Service Release yet or whether
this will be fixed. In the meantime, just record a macro of the filtering
you want and put it on a toolbar. If you're not sure with how to do that,
you might like to have a look at my free series on Microsoft Project in the
TechTrax ezine, particularly #16 on macros, at this site:
http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc or this:

(Perhaps you'd care to rate the article before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Thanks guys for the help. I have found that if I dont collapse the summary
task the sort holds when I close the file. Otherwise, I just re-sort when I
open it.
