Why do Outlook Tasks not update after assignment?

Since I installed the update for BCM on my company's 4 computers, we have
been unable to receive any updates from assigned tasks. The task can be
assigned and received by the assignee with no problem. An email is also
received in response to a task (accept/decline/completed) by the assignee but
the task is not automatically updated in the owners list.
Does anyone know why this is happening or how to solve it?
Also, why can I only use tasks with our hotmail accounts and not via our
company email accounts?
