Why do some birthdays span two days in Outlook?

When I started synchronizing data between my home computer and my work
computer with a HP iPAQ Pocket PC, most of the birthday and anneversary
information began spanning two days on the calendar display. Why is this
happening and how can I make the synchronized info show on only the correct
day?

the time zones on the pda don't match the zone on the computer.
