Why do Styles automatically update in Word when I already have th.

When I change the bullets and numbering or the formatting in one place, Word
often changes every other portion of the document that has the same applied
style as the section that I changed.

I have already gone to Tools > Templates and Add-Ins..., and made certain
that the "Automatically update document styles" is UNCHECKED.

I find this odd because when I encounter this problem and go to Edit >
Undo..., it says "Undo Automatically Update Style..."

This is quite frustrating. Is there any way of turning this feature off for
real? It appears that the checkbox I mentioned is for some similar
functionality, but not specifically what I am experiencing. From what I have
read, that is to apply set styles to documents as you open them. Therefore,
between different users, you can have different displays of a format with the
same name, but passing the document back and forth between each other will
not alter how that document is displayed differently for each user. In
short, the different users will not have to change the formatting to suit
their needs each time they pass the document back and forth. ???

Please help!
