Why do unstarted task start dates in the past not push to today

MS Project 2007. Tasks with scheduled start dates in the past but not yet
started are not being pushed to the current date. Project 2003 would do this
but I have been unable to get Project 2007 to work. I want a string of
linked tasks scheduled to start in the past to show the dates they could
actually start/finish based on the current date.

Hello AMED,

You need to use Tools > Tracking > Update Project > Reschedule
uncompleted work to push the incomplete tasks to start on the current
date or status date.
