Why do Word 2007 documents appear jumbled or portions blacked out

When I use the reviewer pane to make comments on a paper I am grading, the
original document in print view in Word 2007 jumbles sentences, over types,
and blacks out portions of the document. I have looked on the Web. Am I the
only one experiencing this problem?

I have a partial screen capture.
