Why do Work hours increase

In my project, I have a task with a baseline of 40 work hours and a task type
of Fixed Units. I have been doing some updates - only updating the Actual
Work for tasks previous to this task. Now this task has 1098.83 work hours.
Can anyone explain why?

Gail, the only reason why work would increase is if your actual work has
1098.83 work or the accumulation of actual and remaining work = to 1098.93
The only other reason why this could happen is if your schedule is corrupt

We have installed the infrastructure update and some hotfixes. I will close
this for now until I see if it contines.

Are you seeing this in the actual work record in the Project? If so, you may
be experiencing some known issues. The December CU contained a fix for one
of these.
