Why does address book delay on click?

Both my mac at work and at home, when I hit the address book icon in entourage, it takes several seconds to respond, I often double-click to no avail. Not the same when when I hit calendar or task or notes, why just address book?!

The delay is substantial and recognizable...

Once it opens, click on the name column to re-sort your contacts. That
should cause Entourage to re-sort the list and speed things up.

In Entourage 2008, there is a problem with slow switching to the calendar
due to flagged messages (see below *). Perhaps there is some relationship
between contacts and links.

A good way to test is create a new Identity. Compare switching between
Address Book, Mail, Calendar, Notes, Tasks with no data. Do you still see
the slow down? If no, then try exporting your data as Entourage archive
(.rge) and import into a new Identity. Does it speed up now?

* Flagged messages (flagged messages are now considered a type of "to-do",
by the way.) One user reports, At one point I had about 2000, and would get
stuck for 5-6 minutes. I unflagged most of them, but I still have a couple
hundred, They now slow me down to about 30 seconds switching to calendar and
then flagging messages.

Let me know what you find.
