Why does animation stop on a GIF picture when I edit it?

I'm using Frontpage 2003. I've inserted an animated GIF picture and made it
absolute positioning on the page. The animation now no longer works. Does
anyone know why? And can I get around it. I don't have a lot of experience
with animated pictures. Would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks.

Positioning an image would have no effect on its ability to animate. The
most likely explanation is that you didn't export the image as an animated
GIF.

Thanks Murray. Can I ask another question? I imported the pic into my page
as an animated GIF. Re-positioned it, then hit the preview - this is where
it's not showing the animation. I haven't published the page yet, so when I
do, will it work? Or do you have any tips. Thanks again.

Did FP prompt you to save embed images?

Resizing in the browser (or positioning) would have no effect on the ability
of the GIF to animate.

It's likely that after resizing it was not saved as an animated GIF.

Can you show me the image, please?

in message I don't think you can resize an animated .gif and still have it work - does
it work on your machine (not inside the web?)

You can edit them with an image editor that can create animated gifs but I
don't think you can resize them without resizing each layer...I could be
wrong on this though, it's been a while.

Yes, if FP saved it, it is no longer an animated GIF.
