Why does CPU usage for winword.exe gradually grow to 100%?

Whenever I open more than 1 document in MS-Word, the CPU usage gradually
grows to 100%. This usually happens when I am viewing the document with track
changes on. What is the cause for this? How can this be rectified? Has
Microsoft released any patches/updates for this? Do I have to change any
settings? I am using Windows XP SP 1 and MS-Word 2002.

I'm having the same issue and it's driving me nuts. The CPU usage goes up
and the fan goes on and it sounds like my system is ready to take off. I
have WinXP Pro, Service pack 2, and Microsoft Office 2000 Pro -SR1. Did you
find any solutions outside of this forum?
