Why does every business contact have everyone's history?

All my current and new business contacts are linked to every single history
item. How do I fix this so I get back to just the relevant history items
linked to each business contact? I recently attempted to back up my Inbox
messages, and I suspect that had something to do with this. I've since
erased that backup folder.
