Why does Instant Search Indexing take so long?

I am finding the Instant Search feature to be almost unuseable.

Everytime I move a message to another folder, the reindexing begins and then
I cannot search till it is done. This can take up to 30 minutes!

This can't be working as designed. Am I doing something wrong?

Something is not right. Did you try resetting the index? Control panel,
indexing options, Advanced button, Restore Defaults.




** Please include your Outlook version, Account type, and Windows Version
