Why does launching MS Word clear the clipboard?

A

AEC-01

When I copy text to the clipboard I can paste in any other application. But
If I launch Word, the clipboard is emptied. I cannot paste anything into Word
or any other application unless I copy it to the clipboard again.

Most likely answer is you have the Works Add-In installed. Unless you need
this, uninstall it.
