Why does my e-mail signature block appear double spaced?

My signature block appears to be single-spaced and, indeed, when I print my
outgoing message, the signature block is single-spaced. However, the
receiver of the message tells me my signature block is double-spaced, and in
responding to me with my original message attached, I see that the signature
block is double-spaced. How do I correct this?
