why does my excel program say I am missing msi files

when I try to open Excel from my desktop or an excel document I get an error
saying I am missing proret.msi. I don't know what that is. The only way I
can open it is to open a new office document and once it opens to select that
particular document I am trying to open. How can I resolve this

Inserting the installation CD and select Detect and Repair
