Why does my frontpage 2003 webpage open as an image in firefox?

Alex

I've designed a webpage using FrontPage 2003 and it works fine in I.E. but
not in either Firefox or Safari. I can't figure out want the problem is and
could use any help I can get. The website is located at
arctic.eas.ualberta.ca.

Thanks,
Alex

Lots of VML there...it's all the Textboxes, Shapes, and any Draw toolbar
items you may have used to create the web - all that stuff is IE5+ only and
may not even work in other browsers, of they will be rendered as downlevel
gifs (like your banner image).

You used Frontpage?...kinda almost looks like Publisher...anyway.. don't use
anything on the Draw menu/toolbar.

Terrible code, such as this:
align="center" style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center"
style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center" style="line-height:
0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center" style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p
align="center" style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center"
style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center" style="line-height:
0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center" style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p
align="center" style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center"
style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center" style="line-height:
0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center" style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p
align="center" style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center"
style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center" style="line-height:
0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center" style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p
align="center" style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p align="center"
style="line-height: 0">&nbsp;</p><p

Start over using the right tool ... not Publisher or Word.

Thanks for the help. Looks like I'll be redoing the entire site. Got to love
FrontPage.

Well, it's not really the fault of FrontPage.

Take screen shots of your word art, save it as jpg images and then use the
images in your page.

It won't be hard, just save all the pieces from publisher and start over
with FP,...coupla hours you'll be done.

That's an interesting comment about terrible code. I've seen more of just
that kind of coding when using Front Page and I'm not doing the coding, FP is.

Hi Vicki,

Even if you are not writing directly into HTML and are using FrontPage to
insert your code in WYSIWYG mode..you are still telling FrontPage what code
to put in. It's important to learn what the different FrontPage features
do..and how they react in different browsers. Using inline styles will
probably cause headaches.

That is not because FP is bad, it is because generally inline styles are
bad.
