Why does my MS Word (Office XP) shutdown everytime I open it?

Need some help pls, I got my Word program shutting down everytime I open it,
I have all the updates of Office XP installed in my lap top. For this reason
I cant open or use MS word, nor use Outlook programs.
Is there any remedy or specific file update that can correct this problem
than having to reinstall the entire office programs again.
