Why does my Office 2003 not work under Windows Vista?

I recently replaced the motherboard and processor in my old computer, to get
it up to appropriate standards for the Vista OS. Immediately after changing
this hardware, I installed the Vista beta OS on one of my harddrive
partitions. Prior to all of these changes I was working with Windows XP,
which is still on my harddrive (but unaccessible because it was installed
prior to the motherboard switch). I have MS Office 2003 (Office 11) on my
computer, which has never given me problems before. However, after changing
my operating system to Vista, I cannot access any of the MS Office
applications (i.e. Word, Excel, or Access). I have found all of the
programs/applications on my harddrive, but they will not open. I get a
message that says "The operating system is not presently configured to run
this application."
What can I do to get these applications to open in Vista?

1) In order to use winxp with this new hardware you would at least have to
run a repair installation

and install your new mobo chipset and other mobo drivers from cd provided.
2) None of your programs installed under winxp will work under vista unless
you install them from cd's under vista
