why does my outlook calendar display multiple identical events?

calendar overload

more precisely: my personal folders - outlook today displays same persons
birthday as 5 or 6 different events.
when i go into calendar, at the top of the day there are multiple identical
events.
for some people there are 6 repeted events, for some people there are 3
repeted events.
