Why does my reoccuring appointment disappear after I make a certa.

I just added a reoccuring appointment to my Outlook calendar and when date by
date and made minor adjustments to the same appointment - once I had edited
about 85 percent of the reoccuring appointments - the entire appointment
disappeared. I've tried this three times with the same result.
