Why does my spell check think I am typing in another language?

I am in the middle of writing a report. Spell check automatically fixes
words with transposed letters. It won't catch flat out mispelled words. When
I click spell check it tells me that the spelling and grammar is complete.
When I click the thesaurus a box pops up saying that there is no thesaurus
available for German. I wasn't typing in German and I have been using Word
2007 all week and this never happened before. What is going on and how do I
fix it?

Is this ALL documents? Try Control+A (select all) and then go to Tools,
Language, Set Language and make sure the document is set to the correct
language.

Oddly, some paragraphs I write the errors are caught, other paragraphs I
guess Word is thinking that they are in German. I didn't realize that you
had to select all before fixing the language. I checked that before and it
had already said English. I guess selecting all and then doing it reinforced
English throughout. It worked. Thank you so much!!
