why does outgoing mail get sent to my inbox?

I have had a rule set up in my main inbox for about 5 years that has worked
as designed.

I have 2 email accounts setup in Outlook that both come to my main Inbox.

The Rule that runs on all incoming emails is setup to move any incoming
emails that were routed to my secondary email account to a subfolder named
"Janus".

This worked fine for many years. Now, for some unknown reason, when I
reply to or forward any of the emails that reside in this "Janus" subfolder
the copy of my outgoing email that normally goes to my Sent Items box ends up
in the "Janus" subfolder.

I have tried deleting the rule and starting over multiple times - doesn't
fix the problem.

I tried setting up a new subfolder and new rule - same problem.

I tried running Office Diagnostics - says everything is fine.

Tried compacting the folders - no changes.

When I send a new email using the secondary email account - no problem. It
only happens on replies & forwards to the emails sitting in the subfolder.

I have resorted to making an additional rule that scans my subfolder and
moves the sent items back to the Sent Items folder and I have to run it
manually a few times a day to clear out all my sent emails from my subfolder
inbox.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Click Tools>Options>E-mail Options>Advanced E-mail Options. Examine the
check box labeled "In folders other than Inbox, save replies with original
message". If it's checked, uncheck it.
