Why does Outllook 2003 put 'inverted commas' contact names in emai

Why does Outlook 2003 put 'inverted commas' contact names in email? I create
a new message and enter the name of the recipient in the To: field and send
the mail but when I look in the 'Sent' folder, recipients have inverted
commas round their name eg. 'Ramjam Funkyboogaloo'.
