why does outlook '08 crash when I click on contacts folder?

outlook '08 keeps crashing when I try to click on of my current contact
folders in my contact list. Outlook keeps crashing then automatically
opens back up. I have removed and reinstalled MS Outlook and have tried
detect and repair, but to no avail. any ideas on why this is happening?

If your PST file is corrupt - neither of the items you've tried would make a
difference.

Run ScanPst against your default PST file to correct any errors that may
exist. If that doesn't cure the problem, hopefully you'll have a backup.
