WHY DOES OUTLOOK 2007 NEED A DEFAULT GATEWAY??????

C

Craigster

No answer yet from anyone so asking again:

My NIC has no default gateway address as the Exchange server is local, but
Outllook 2007 won't connect unless a DG in specified, even if it is a false
randomly choosen number, then it will find the excahnge server and connect.
How do I disable this MS "helpful" NIC configuration checking????

Hi,

It may be a design flaw in Outlook related to assuming the user may want
to use it with "remote mail".

I noticed your previous posts - one thing is for sure, no one in
office.setup will know the answer. Have you tried the Exchange
newsgroups or Microsoft networking groups?

Did you say you were running TS? If so, have you tried there and if you
are running TS you probably have a huge support contract, did you phone
them?
