Why does Outlook freeze up when I scroll thru past messages?

I have Outlook 2003 running with Windows XP, processor is Athlon 3000XP 1 Gig
Ram. When I try to scroll down through pass messages Outlook seems to just
freeze up, indefinitly. Has done it since day one and does it atleast 50% of
the time. I then need to do a re-boot.
