Why does PowerPoint file size increase after just viewing files?

Recently I have noticed that my PowerPoint file sizes have been increasing
for many of my files when I simply open a file and close it without saving. I
am running 2003 SP3. I cannot recall any change to my system that would have
caused this to suddenly start occurring, but with all of the automatic
updates who knows. Does anyone know why the file sizes change and if there is
a way to disable this feature? Note it only happens with .ppt and .pps files.
The odd thing is that it does not happen with all files, but I cannot find
any reason as to why some file sizes increase and some do not. I am looking
for a solution to this issue because it is causing peoblems with my file
repository.

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually have read those pages and configured
PowerPoint to match those settings previously. Here is an example of what is
happening on my computer. I just opened a PowerPoint file that was 541 KB. I
then paged through the file and made a few minor changes. Next I closed the
file without saving any of the changes. The file size changes to 543 KB. This
causes my file repository to treat the file as if it were modified. I assume
the increase if file size has something to do with updating the Details of
the file, however I am not sure. I am wondering if there is a way to prevent
the file size from changing when I open a file and do not save any changes.

That's it. I just realized it a few moments ago when looking at a coworkers
settings. We had different usernames under the General tab. He was not having
the issue, so I changed my name to what he had and the problem went away.

Thanks a lot!
