Why does the calendar start at 12am? Can I change it?

This has been driving me crazy for years. Why does the calendar start at
12am? Who starts their day at 12 am? Is there a way to change it so the only
time slots are 8 a to 10 pm?
I know about the option to set the work week under tooks in calendar, but
all that does is change the color of the selected time...it doesnt eliminate
the slots from 12 am to 8 am.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Because universally, a day is defined as Midnight to Midnight.

Don't forget that not everyone who uses outlook does a 9-5 job.

I quite often have things to do early hours of the morning, especially if
I'm working from 4pm til 2am.

Because that's how the world defines the concept of "day".
Who starts their day at 12 am?

Lots of people. My daughter, for example. She works in a sleep lab and
oftens starts her day at 11:00 PM or midnight.
Is there a way to change it so the only time slots are 8 a to 10 pm?

Nope. Sorry.
