Why Does the Excel Spreadsheet truncates and round off my calculations?

Example: I take 71 and divide by 7 .... the number comes
out truncated and rounded off at say the 12th decimal ...
and thereafter shows "0000..." ... how can I get it to
compute to a higher no of decimal places.

Excel's precision is 15 significant digits. If an inaccuracy of 1 thousand
billionth of a percent really is too much for you, you can download software
like this:

http://digilander.libero.it/foxes/index.htm

Of course any calculation with a standard Excel function will ruin your
precision.
