Why does the number sometimes move when converted to text?

Because of possible heavoc Word numbering may wreak, especially upon
someone other than the original creator of the document who's most
familiar with the document's particular numbering scheme, I usually
use "activedocument.convertnumberstotext" macro in order to convert
the auto-numbers into text.

But sometimes, upon conversion, the number gets detached from the
paragraph and moves to the front of the adjacent page break or section
break.

Why does this happen?

Hi DJ,

I've never noticed this happening, before. Can you narrow down a
specific set of steps that reproduces the behavior? And in which version
of Word?

Generally, I'd say the problem could be due to text being "attached" to
such a break. Have you ever noticed that such a break usually picks up
the paragraph STYLE of the immediately following paragraph? That's an
important reason why we usually use "Page break before" formatting
rather than manual page breaks.

Hi Cindy,

Yes! Page breaks or section breaks always seem to pick up the
paragraph style of the IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING paragraph!
I always wondered why...

From now on, i'm going to use "page break before" formatting rather
than manual page breaks.

But, does using manual page/section breaks cause other problems too?

Well, there's no way around manual section breaks :) But no, right
off hand I can't think of any other particular problems with manual
page breaks (seems to me I'm missing one, but...)
