Why Does the Report Re-Run when printed?

I have a report that takes at least 30 minutes to run - because it has three
sub-reports that take about 10 minutes each to run. Once it's run, it has to
be printed, which takes ANOTHER 30 minutes. If I export to Word, it does the
same thing, so this doesn't save any time.

Why does it re-run the data to send to the printer instead of printing what
is on the screen? Is there a way to tell it NOT to do that?

No there isn't. Since report's are graphical amd each
output device is different (both hardware and drivers), a
report must be totally recalculated for different devices.
